Fundraiser for Animal Shelter Horjul

Fundraiser for Animal Shelter Horjul

Giving back to the community is something very important to us here at FLOUFFY. That’s why we hosted a fundraiser for animal shelter Horjul from Slovenia, a nonprofit organization that rescues abandoned dogs and cats, provides veterinarian & behavioral intervention when needed and helps animals find new homes.

It was at the end of last year when we hosted our second pop-up shop that revolved around dogs having fun while their humans could hang out and talk about everything dogs. But we wanted this event to be more than just fun for everyone who attended - we all felt a strong desire to give back something to dogs who are much less fortunate than ours. Abandoned dogs don’t worry whether their latest winter coat doesn’t fit - they are scared, hungry, and cold.

Thanks to animal shelters like Horjul and good and selfless people who devoted their lives to rescuing abandoned dogs, more and more dogs get the help they need and the luckiest ones get new homes too.

They told us that the most needed items throughout the whole year, but especially in winter, are towels, blankets, sheets, pee pads and cleaning supplies. So that’s what we asked everyone to bring when they visited our pop-up event and the response was amazing! Everyone found something useful at home and those who didn’t, came with bags full of new stuff from local stores.

We thank you all for being such caring and loving people. We are grateful to have this opportunity to be able to bring the community together and do something good with your support.

How you can help too

1. Donate supplies or financial aid

No gift is too small to make a difference. Reach out to your local animal shelter and ask them what they need most urgently.

2. Adopt a dog or a cat

If you're considering to get a new furry friend, we encourage you to seriously consider rescuing one from your local shelter.

3. Help spread awareness about the importance of neutering/spaying

The single most important thing that we can do to save cats and dogs from all the suffering and death that their overpopulation causes is to spay and neuter them. Sterilized animals live longer, happier lives.

Spaying and neutering makes a big difference: According to PETA, just one unaltered female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in only six years. In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can produce an incredible 370,000 kittens!
